What do I do if I think my child has ADHD?:
"If you believe that your child may have ADHD, the first step would be to make an
appointment with your family physician. They would be able to do a thorough
physical examination to rule out other medical conditions. If necessary, they
would be able to refer you to a psychologist or psychiatrist in your area that
specializes in ADHD for further testing."

What is it like to be an ADHD child?:
"I just finished the book by Benjamin Polis "Only a Mother Could Love Him". By writing this book he has done me a huge favour. He describes what it is like inside the head of a boy with ADHD."

Is ADHD forever or will it go away?:
"70-80% of children with ADHD still have difficulty during adolescence,
and 30-40% still have difficulty in adult life. However, as children mature
the symptoms change somewhat. Whereas the primary complaint in a child might
be hyperactivity, in an adult this becomes restlessness, disorganisation, and impatience."

How do I deal with my ADHD child's teacher?:
Remember that they are the child's teacher and they should have your child's best
interests at heart. They also have a job to do and they know how to do it.
Help them accomplish goals with your child, don't tell them how to do their job.
Respect them and they will respect you.
If need be do some research and print off some information for your child's teacher.
Most teachers are very greatfull for suggestions and insights into your child/ren -
let's face it, you know the chil/ren best.
